Querying Your Data

With PetroVisual's powerful ad-hoc query tool, you can ask detailed questions about your data without the need for complicated query languages or arcane scripting tools. Set filters for each of your data fields using English commands. PetroVisual also provides direct links to your database so that you can browse for specific keywords and record counts, right from the query editor.

Use English query commands. Create queries using intuitive dropdown lists of English commands, like Contains, Less Than, In The List Of, Starts With, and Between.

Use pick lists to browse your database. PetroVisual automatically populates pick lists of unique values in your database, along with record counts, to help you construct your queries.

Group related data fields to query. For data sets with many data columns, group related columns together in collapsible branches to better organize and streamline your query building.

Import filter lists from Excel. Copy data from Excel and click the Paste Special button to create automatically-formatted filters lists in the query editor.

Test and run your query. Perform a quick test to see how many records match your current query criteria. Save your query and run it. When the query results return, see all of your data visualizations automatically update to show the latest data. Return to the query editor at any time to refine your search.

Share your queries with colleagues. E-mail your query and related visualizations to other people in your company.
